MARSHA BROWN

My life was going great until one fateful night when I received a phone call with news that my teenage son had been hit by a drunk driver and was severely injured. Ultimately, I had to quit working to be his full-time caregiver, which led to us losing our home.

The more I talk about my family’s experience of homelessness, the more empowered I feel. Talking about the challenges we faced helps me to heal and lets other people know they too can get through this. My journey isn’t done, but talking about the path I’ve traveled helps me to see how much I have accomplished.

I encourage people who want to make a difference and end homelessness to ask the people who are homeless how they can help.
