I moved to Denver for a position and a new start, but the job fell through. This put me and my family at the mercy of a city we didn’t yet know very well.

Embracing my struggle gave me the courage to utilize the resources that are available to help ease the stigma of what ‘homelessness’ looks like.

A quote by author J. Michael Straczynski hits home for me when thinking of the experience of homelessness: ‘Our greatest cruelty is our casual blindness to the despair of others’. We need to see others – really see them, speak out about the cruelties of homelessness, and lend a hand to prevent more suffering. Thank you to everyone who works to give a voice to those in challenging circumstances, and speaks up for those who cannot.
