(DENVER, Colo., January 27, 2017) – Being homeless isn’t easy, but it’s even harder during the winter months in Colorado. This winter 8z Real Estate Castle Rock is stepping up to help keep the homeless warm, and build awareness about homelessness with a blanket drive benefiting the Fuzzy Blanket Foundation.
8z Realtor Darla Newton, who is also a co-founder of the Fuzzy Blanket Foundation explained, “Last year we held our first annual blanket drive, and participants were eager to continue the effort this year. While Castle Rock might be a more affluent community, the blanket drive brings awareness that homelessness affects everyone. The homeless are not only those with a sign on a street corner, but families living in their cars, on a sofa of a friend or relative, or in a shelter. This is a way for us as Realtors to be involved in our community, and talk about a topic outside of real estate sales, and our neighbors have been eager to donate to the cause.”
Realtors from the 8z Real Estate Castle Rock office took initiative to spread the word about the blanket drive, sharing details about it on postcard mailings, email campaigns, and through social media. This past weekend, the Castle Rock community answered the calling, filling dozens of bags with blankets at Fuzzy Blanket collection locations and the 8z Real Estate Castle Rock office.
It’s not too late to do a spring cleaning of your linen closet. 8z Real Estate Castle Rock will continue collecting new and used blankets and bedding during regular business hours through February 28, 2017. They are located at 734 N. Wilcox St. #101., Castle Rock, CO 80104.
The Fuzzy Blanket Foundation is a Denver based non-profit that provides blankets to shelters and rescue organizations assisting under-served communities. The donated blankets quickly make their way from the donation bins to the local shelters and within the hands of those in need within 24-48 hours.
